INFINITY EDGE HOUSE

The architectural features in this NSW beachside home are as breathtaking as the expansive views from the property. Sunken into the landscape, this site sits on the edge of a cliff face overlooking the South Pacific Ocean.

The house itself had been neglected for a number of years before its owners brought the residence and partnered with Studio Parisi Architects to breathe new life to the cascading beachside retreat.

As frequent entertainers, the client’s wanted to maximise outdoor entertaining spaces, enhance the potential views from the main area and ultimately modernise the look and feel of the residence.

On his first visit to the residence, Lead Architect Angelo Parisi noticed the impressive view of the South Pacific ocean and expansive horizon beyond. This view served as an ongoing inspiration for him and the team in designing the Infinity Edge house, and takes form in indoor and outdoor spaces that appear to defy the ordinary boundaries of nature and design.

At the entrance to the residence the cascading plan falls with the extremely steep site to create the appearance of the entrance meeting the living quarters below, this continues on as the balcony off the main living areas was extended outwards to meet the line of the pool below and this feeling of infiniteness continues as the newly created infinity edge pool appears to meet the expansive South Pacific ocean in the distance.

In addition, a secondary outdoor entertaining nook was created off the internal dining space, this along with the extended decking and pool area created multiple entertaining and gathering spaces for guests to break out and experience different aspects of the residence and the view.

The end result is a beachside retreat for this inner city family that has all the luxuries of modern living mixed with design features that create a sense of freedom and boundlessness.
